3 Heating & Air Myths BUSTED!

Updated: Aug 15, 2022

Here are some common misconceptions about your HVAC unit and how your choices can affect your comfort levels...not to mention your energy bills!

Brown's Heating and Air is here to help you debunk those myths and help you save money while getting the comfort you deserve!

Myth #1 - Turn your system off when you leave the house to save money

FALSE! We've heard this one a million times!

It is less efficient and more costly to keep your home at an ideal temperature throughout the day, especially when you are not even there to enjoy it!

Myth #2 - Closing the vents in empty rooms will increase efficiency

FALSE!

Unfortunately, closing vents causes excessive stress on your HVAC unit - leading to damage and repairs. The added pressure creates leaks in your vent system, making it harder to heat or cool the entire house in the long run. If you are having airflow issues, you might need system maintenance. Book an appointment to speak with one of our knowledgeable customer service people if you have questions.

Myth #3 - The location of my thermostat doesn't matter

FALSE!

A well-placed thermostat ensures more accurate reading of your home. You'll also want it to be in a room you frequently use rather than tucked away in a hallway. Elements in a room may cause yours to pick up a faulty reading, such as a drafty part of the house or in the kitchen where the temperature is generally warmer.
